Some Older Pictures of the Saratoga Battlefeld
I’d been to the Saratoga battlefield before, back in 2010. Unfortunately, it was a terrible day: overcast, gloomy and very rainy. I’d taken along a newly purchased camera. It wasn’t weather-sealed, and I didn’t want to take it out in case I damaged it. So, I used my iPhone 3GS with its 3-megapixel sensor. While the pictures aren’t great, I include them here because the show a few places that we didn’t see this time around. Such as, for example, the site of the US Headquarters (last picture) with its interesting flag, which combines the bars of the later US flag with the Union Jack. Apparently, it’s called the Grand Union flag. There’s also the site of the British HQ (third from the last picture). And the Neilson farm, which during my first visit had a cannon situated close by. The text on the on the monument is also more readable here than it is in the more recent picture I took of it.
